About Me

Having joined CQUniversity in 2024, you'll find me delivering units from Certificate IV and Diploma in Human Resource Management and other VET units from business services. As an experienced People and Culture leader, Industry Trainer and small business owner, I have a broad skill set that I enjoy translating into practical, engaging and real-life experiences and content for our students.  I am a proud no-nonsense HR leader, with over 20-years' experience leading People and Culture processes of diverse and fast-paced industries, supported by a passion for training.

Most recently, I was the Wellbeing Advisor for Cairns Regional Council, leading Council's Wellbeing Strategy for over 1400 employees, in particular formulating best practice processes and innovation in line with evolving legislative psychological safety and psychosocial code of practice principles. 

Previously, I was the Area Director, People and Culture for Crystalbrook Collection Cairns, tasked with opening three 5-star hotels within an 18-month timeframe. A complex HR project to support the newly built infrastructure consisting of 837 rooms,10 restaurants/bars, and to source a talent pool of 450 staff. A role I am particularly proud of leading for 6 years as I was required to deliver the full People and Culture strategy for a new hotel brand delivering on our mantra to shake-up the normal cookie-cooker approaches of the hotel industry. 

I have worked in the hotel HR leadership space for over 15 years for international brands such as InterContinental Hotels Group across QLD and NSW, and like hotels, love that teaching at CQUniversity also provides a rich diversity of students and wide range of discipline fields. 

I have operated my own boutique HR consultancy business which involved working on a variety of projects ranging from writing training programs, career coaching, HR process redesign and contract trainer roles. 

I am excited to be teaching our current and next generation of leaders.  I love the regional focus of CQUniversity, having worked and lived in Cairns, Townsville, Whitsundays, Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour, Emerald and Rockhampton with a side journey to Hong Kong.
