About Me

Stephanie Schoeppe is a Research Fellow/Senior Lecturer in Public Health at Central Queensland University, School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences, Physical Activity Research Group. She held an Early Career Fellowship from the National Health and Medical Research Council and a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the National Heart Foundation of Australia. Her research focuses on promoting an active healthy lifestyle in children and families using digital technology (wearable activity trackers, smartphone apps, web, social media). Her recent research also combines outdoor physical activity promotion with environmental action (i.e. picking up plastic litter), thereby promoting an active sustainable lifestyle. Her broader research expertise includes sedentary behaviour prevention, health psychology, health promotion and public health. Dr Schoeppe received a Diploma in Social Sciences (equivalent to a Master) from the University of Hannover (2002), and completed her PhD in Physical Activity and Public Health at Central Queensland University, Rockhampton (2015). Between these degrees, Dr Schoeppe conducted research at Hannover Medical School (2002-2003) and The University of Sydney, Centre for Physical Activity and Health (2004-2006) and NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (2008-2010). She had also appointments at the World Health Organization including the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health in Bonn (2006) and the WHO Headquarter in Geneva (2007).
