About Me

Wayne Houston has over 30 years experience as a field ecologist across a wide range of ecosystems in northern Australia including research of terrestrial fauna, flora and wetland biota. He has an interest in landscape ecology and its application to ecosystem health assessment and is skilled in bird, reptile, mammal, frog and invertebrate identification including bioindicator taxa such as ants. 

Wayne has special interests in:

  • using biodiversity to evaluate sustainable land management practices in rangelands
  • environmental drivers and the ecology of endangered species, particularly birds
  • wetland ecology including mangroves and saltmarshes.

  • wetland ecology including mangroves and saltmarshes.
