About Me

I am a Senior Research Fellow in the project 'Automation and Future Work Skills' within the Office of the Vice-Chancellor & President. My current research focuses on the social impacts of technological change brought about by key industries through dialogues between industries, their stakeholders, and local communities in the Greater Whitsundays Region.

General
Background

I am a social sciences researcher specializing in rural and regional development in both Australia and China.  My research interests focus on exploring the relationship between functions of agriculture and rural development in different contexts, and providing academic support for regional development through understanding stakeholders' adaptive measures to perceived on-farm risks. My work can support decision makers, especially policy makers, regional communities and individual farmers, to transform production towards multifunctional and sustainable agriculture and rural landscapes at different scales.

Professional Memberships

Institute of Australian Geographers; Royal Geographical Society of South Australia (member of Research Committee)

Key Achievements

1. While I was completing my PhD thesis, I was course coordinating/lecturing one GIS-related subject covering 160+ undergraduates. According to Student Experience of Learning and Teaching (eSELF), students' mean scores for the Advanced GIS course in the nine items of the course evaluation are higher than that of the average levels of the Department, School, Faculty, and the University of Adelaide.

2. My PhD was awarded with no revisions to the thesis.

3. As part of my research, I have published 13 papers in refereed high-quality journals, of which 12 are in English. These journals include several ranked as Q1: Land Use Policy (impact factor 7.1), Ecological Indicators (6.9), Habitat International (impact factor 6.8), Journal of Rural Studies (5.1) and Journal of Geographical Sciences (4.9). I have also published a book chapter, an extended abstract in a book as well as giving three presentations at major international conferences of the International Geographical Union (IGU) and co-authoring two presented at IGU conferences.
