Mimona has a passion for effectively maintaining healthcare standards and coordinating treatment programs and early interventions. She is dedicated to facilitating the distribution of health information through effective communications and strong leadership.

General

Background

Mimona holds a Bachelor's degree in Health and Medical Science, majoring in Public Health. With a strong focus on promoting the well-being of communities, she has extensive experience in both government and non-government health sectors.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Mimona demonstrated exceptional leadership as a team leader in the COVID response unit at SA Pathology. Additionally, she served as a Consumer and Community Health Representative at Women's and Children's Hospital, advocating for the health and quality of consumers.

Mimona is deeply passionate about women's health and migrant and refugee health. She has actively contributed as an advisor on a review article titled 'A Systematic Review Analysis on Women Undergoing FGM in South Australia', and has been an advocate for women who have undergone FGM for the past five years. Through, engaging talks for health services and community organizations, she works tirelessly to promote an appropriate approach to FGM.

Her dedication extends to her passion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and quality of life. Currently, Mimona is enthusiastically coordinating the pilot of Integrated Genetic Healthcare, aiming to improve access to and the experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients accessing quality genetic health services in Queensland and Western Australia.

Mimona's impact on the community hasn't gone unnoticed. In 2018, she was recognized as a finalist and winner of the Channel 9 Multicultural Youth SA Spirit of Resilience Award for her remarkable achievements, including the establishment of the "Young Women of MYSA" refugee and migrants women's empowerment group.

In summary, Mimona's profile reflects her unwavering passion and commitment to promoting public health, particularly her dedication to enhancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and quality of life.
