About Me

Carol Tran is the Head of Course for Oral Health at CQUniversity (Rockhampton). She graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Melbourne and completed her PhD on ‘Dental Implant Debridement methods’ at the University of Queensland (UQ). During this time, she was awarded a Medical/Dental NHM&RC scholarship and held numerous Australian Dental Research Foundation grants. She has completed numerous research projects spanning from dental caries diagnosis and management, in vitro material science, biofilm removal, periodontal and implant diseases, emergency dental care for children, health interventions, workforce studies to dental education. 

Carol was a Lecturer in the Dentistry and Oral Health programs at UQ, she was a year level coordinator, a mentor to supervisors, and providing clinical and theoretical knowledge to students. Carol is an active member in the Dental Hygienists’ Association of Australia, starting off as a CPD member, then progressing to state chair, an executive board member and is currently the Vice President. She is also a member of IADR, ASP and a number of dental journals.

Carol has worked across public, private, general and specialist dental practices in Victoria and Queensland for more than 13 years.
