Sue is an academic at CQU and currently still works as a Senior Cardiac Scientist (Echocardiographer). Sue brings 22 years of clinical experience to her role at the university. Sue is currently still at Logan Hospital where she has been for 11 years.
Sue’s academic journey started with a Diploma of Teaching (Primary) in 1992. She then continued on to complete Bachelor of Exercise Science at Griffith Uni GC in 1996 and subsequent Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (Cardiac) in 2002.
Sue's cardiac technician career began following clinical placement with Heart Care Partners at Greenslopes and Wesley Hospitals in 1999. She worked for 3 years as an ECG technician before commencing her Echocardiography training in 2002. In her role as an ECG technician, Sue learnt to perform ECG’s, Exercise stress tests, Tilt table tests, 24-hour Holter monitors, Event monitors and BP monitors.
Prior to starting her family in 2006, Sue took on the roll as Chief Cardiac scientist and was heavily involved in the onsite training of junior echocardiographers. From 2006 - 2010, Sue worked part time in the private sector as well as enjoying working as a sessional academic for QUT and echo tutor at the Australian Institute of Ultrasound. Sue commenced employment at Logan Hospital in 2010 and still enjoys her role as a Cardiac Scientist. She is still actively involved in the training of junior staff.
Sue is a keen cyclist and occasional triathlete. She enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 daughters and travelling the globe when the opportunity arises.
