About Me

General
Background

I am a long-term non-Indigenous resident of Djabugay Country (Kuranda) in Far North Queensland.  I have extensive experience in the tertiary education sector, across governance, project, administrative and research support roles, as well as teaching and curriculum development.

Prior to commencing university study as a mature age student, I gained 15 years of working experience across a range of sectors, within diverse roles including office management, sales and customer relations. I graduated from James Cook University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Social Science (Environmental Studies & Political Science). I was awarded the James Cook University “Academic Medal (Bachelor Coursework)” and was admitted to the Faculty of Arts, Education and Social Sciences “Dean’s List” for 2007. Following graduation, I worked within the College of Science and Engineering as Subject Coordinator, Tutor and Research Officer.  In 2018 I was awarded a Sessional Staff Teaching Award for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning, for my work developing “The Environmental Professional” subject.

I commenced with CQUniversity within the OIE in 2018 as Executive Assistant to the Director, First Peoples Think Tank, followed in 2020 by Project and Committee Officer, providing Secretariat support to committees under the responsibility of the OIE, including the First Nations Success Strategies Committee and the Reconciliation Action Plan Committee.  I have been closely involved in the development of the University’s Reconciliation Action Plans.
