About Me
I am a Senior Lecturer in the College of Psychology and am the Head of the Psychology (Honours) Course. I currently teach in the areas of Research Ethics, Applied Behaviour Analysis and Innovations in Psychology. I am also supervising several PhD and Masters theses.
I have lived and worked in several countries around the world. During my PhD studies at the University of Waikato (New Zealand), I taught on several units - mainly Research Methods, Statistics, and Applied Behaviour Analysis - and it was here that I discovered my love of academia. At the completion of my PhD I took up a 3-year post-doctoral position as a research scientist for the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. In 2000, I moved to the University of Huddersfield, in northern England, where I taught Research Methods, Statistics, Developmental Psychology, and Applied Behaviour Analysis. In 2014 I moved to Australia where I worked in an on-line teaching institution, taking units in Developmental Psychology, Motivation, and Ethics. Immediately prior to taking up my position at CQUniversity, I was a Senior Behaviour Analyst and Clinical Lead for an organisation based across New South Wales and Queensland, working with people who were displaying challenging behaviours.
My research passions are in the areas of animal behaviour and welfare, and applied behaviour analysis (both humans and animals). However I am not limited to these areas. I have supervised projects in work integrated learning, stress and resilience, attachment, attitudes towards mental health issues, and many other topics.
