Andrea was born in Canada and moved to Australia in 2014 for her husband's education. Since relocating to Australia, Andrea has lived in Brisbane, Darwin and has now settled in Mackay with her husband and their two young sons. She loves the weather and can often be found outdoors with her family. Andrea enjoys running and exercising at the gym, as well as reading. She also enjoys travelling and experiencing different cultures with her family.
Background
Andrea graduated as a clinical sonographer from McMaster University (Canada) in 2010. She began her professional career working in a high-risk obstetric and gynecological department in a public hospital in Canada, reporting directly to Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists. It was here that she developed her passion for high-risk women’s imaging, with a special focus on obstetrics. This passion continued as Andrea relocated to Australia, moving around the country and working in both private specialist clinics and public hospitals. During this time, she also completed her Master of Medical Ultrasound through Charles Sturt University (2015).
Andrea began her work at CQUniversity in 2017 as a casual tutor in the ultrasound skills labs. During her years of clinical work, Andrea has taught many ultrasound students, medical registrars and sonographers, and knew that she would thoroughly enjoy this aspect of the profession. She continued her work as a casual tutor, while also assisting in other roles within the department, before joining the university full-time. Andrea is very excited to join the department on a more permanent basis and looks forward to teaching and supporting the sonography students and sessional staff at the Mackay Ooralea campus.
