I am a Vocational Education and Training (VET) educator with over a quarter of a century of experience. In recent years I have concentrated on training at AQF levels 1-3 where I have worked with a wide range of people including a surprising number who are living with a disability. For VET Students I continue to deliver some face to face practical training in areas where Industry require and insist on those hands-on skills.
After graduating as a founding student at Griffith University in Brisbane I started working as a secondary teacher in Solomon Islands. During my 12 years there, teaching in 2 remote secondary boarding schools, I found a number of novel applications for the very early personal computers I owned at the time.
Upon returning to Brisbane with a young family I worked for several years in a mixture of IT support roles and Secondary teaching before taking up a position at what was South Brisbane TAFE at that time.
From there I moved to Rockhampton in Central Queensland to take up a TAFE teaching position in IT. In 2014 Central QLD Institute of TAFE merged with CQU and the rest is history.
