I hold a PhD from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, and a Bachelor’s degree from Monash University, Australia, both in Computer Science. My academic career includes roles as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Sydney, the Smart Internet Technology CRC, and UNSW. I’ve collaborated with leading researchers from TCS, IBM, Qualcomm, and top global universities.
My research focuses on the application of UAV-assisted wireless networks, sensing technologies, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in civilian sectors, including smart agriculture, environmental monitoring, and natural hazard prediction, such as wildfires. I recently led a funded project as Lead Chief Investigator on drone and AI-assisted targeted weed management. I supervise research students across IoT, UAV applications, and AI, fostering research with real-world impact.
I have published extensively in Q1 journals, including IEEE Journal of Selected Areas in Communications and IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, and co-invented a US patent (pending) cited by Meta. I serve as an Editor for the Q1-ranked journal Ad Hoc Networks (Elsevier) and have guest-edited special issues for leading publications including IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Network, and others.
I received the 2024 Australian Award for University Teaching (AAUT), a national-level recognition for excellence in teaching and educational leadership. I have also received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Exemplary Practice in Learning & Teaching, the Dean’s Award for Research Excellence, and multiple Student Voice Commendations. Additionally, I have been awarded several Best Paper Awards at international conferences in recognition of my research contributions.
I serve as the Discipline Leader for ICT Foundations and hold elected positions on the University Curriculum Committee and the Academic Board. I am a Senior Member of IEEE, a Certified Professional and Member of ACS (MACS CP), and an IP3P Practitioner. I have served on over 30 international conference Technical Program Committees and co-chaired events including N2Women @ IEEE WoWMoM 2024 and DroneSense-AI workshops in 2024 and 2025.
