Stephanie Gatt joined the Sydney Campus in June 2014. Prior to joining the university Stephanie has had extensive experience in administration at other educational institutes including Sotheby's Institute of Art in London, UK and SAE Creative Media Institute, Sydney (Part of the NAVITAS GROUP)
As the School Administration Officer for the School of Engineering & Technology she will be assisting the Engineering/IT Academics and Deputy Dean in administration for the school.
She is focused on providing excellent professional support to the administration team nationally and looking forward to all the challenges that are ahead of her.
A life-long learner with a strong background in administration (I love organising!) I fell into working in higher education over a decade ago and I think to myself at how lucky I am to be in academia, supporting the development and acquisition of knowledge.
I guess I see acquiring knowledge as internal innovation, and I like innovation. Not innovation for innovation's sake! Innovation that is well planned, a careful assessment of what we currently have and an exploration of reasonable means of doing things more efficiently, more cost-effectively or in a way that improves outcomes for students.
These are exciting times to re-consider how we work, collaborate, share and grow knowledge and I feel like a kid in a candy store when I think of the growing availability in administrative tools, with so many technologies that simply didn’t exist 10 years ago.
While educational institutions are changing internally, I’m also finding the changes occurring externally interesting…
So what do I do when I am not organising academics and students, when I am not solving problems and thinking up solutions? I’m spending time with my family and friends, or reading through my ever-growing pile of cookbooks…
