Prior to starting at CQUniversity in 2002 as a Lecturer, my working background was in ICT in industry in roles or activities such as Network Administration, IT procurement, Customer service IT desk. I did not have any kind of academic background before then, except as a student, when I obtained a Masters degree (coursework) in Information Systems from CQU. In 2012, I completed another Masters degree, this time by research, at CQU.
My main areas of teaching at CQUniversity have been in Information Systems management, Information Technologies, E-commerce, and Ethics and Social Issues.
Early career: Insurance industry, in Underwriting and later in Re-insurance, at Commercial Union of Melbourne. Still later, as a Cobol Programmer in the Company's IT department.
I later worked for about 8 years in a religious organisation as Network and IT administrator in a Novell Network and Microsoft Windows environment and was involved in all aspects including staff training and technical documentation. I obtained a Novell Certified Engineer (CNE) certification about this time, and worked in a variety of contracted IT Helpdesk roles in Queensland Government departments.
I worked for Lotteries West in Perth for a number of years and was involved in IT procurement, Software licensing, Network and PC troubleshooting and Database Administration (assisting).
I moved to Rockhampton in 2002, starting work at CQUniversity as Lecturer (lev B), teaching in Information Systems management, Information Technologies, E-commerce, and Ethics and Social Issues.
Member of Australian Computing Society since 1998, now with Snr (senior) designation.
