I am the Head of Courses and a senior lecturer in health and disaster management at CQUniversity. My career is a blend of practical experience in emergency services and academic leadership, providing me with a unique perspective that I bring to my role. With an extensive background in paramedicine, disaster management, and public health, my expertise spans these areas, allowing me to contribute to these fields.
My international experience in emergency services has shaped my approach to teaching and research. This global perspective allows me to understand the nuances of disaster management in different contexts, which is vital for preparing our students to handle challenges anywhere in the world.
My research interests are deeply rooted in disaster preparedness, response, risk reduction, and resilience. I am mainly focused on improving outcomes amidst the increasing frequency of disaster events, emphasising the need for sustainable solutions supporting global communities. As an educator, my goal is to motivate and prepare students by providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills to make significant contributions to a future where communities can withstand disasters, ensuring their long-term sustainability and well-being.
