Dr Celeste Lawson is based on the Rockhampton campus. After graduating from her Bachelor’s degree in journalism Celeste completed a cadetship at a regional newspaper. She then joined the Queensland Police Service and served as a police officer for 14 years. She completed a Master of Professional Communication in 2000 and began lecturing part time in journalism, public relations and professional communication, in addition to police work. After leaving the police, Celeste worked in senior media and communication roles for a number of government departments, including the Office of Crime Prevention in Western Australia and the Corruption and Crime Commission. Celeste became a full time academic in 2011 at Central Queensland University and completed her PhD studies in the field of community policing and communication in 2013. Celeste’s research interests include organisational communication, organisational culture and policing. She completed a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education in 2014.
Celeste is the course coordinator of Introduction to Public Relations, Advanced Public Relations, Public Relations and the Media, and Organisational Communication. She also supervises students in the Communication Project, and PhD and Masters students.
